The earth is worth more than just one day and it's important to figure out how you can celebrate the day all year long. Manhattan Beach and South Bay provided plenty of great events for Earth Day and it doesn't have to stop. Whether you helped with cleaning up the beaches, helped plant trees or did something else to celebrate, you can continue to take care of Mother Earth for the other 364 days of the year.

A Few Ways to Continue Earth Day

1. Local Products

Manhattan Beach is full of great produce and it can be found at one of the farmers' markets throughout the area. Buying local can eliminate over 1,000 miles of travel from the farm to your plate. This means, you will help reduce the use of fuel, which means less emissions.

What’s a fresh coat of paint worth? My husband and I found out exactly how much after purchasing our first tall and skinny home in Redondo Beach close to three years ago. We had a limited budget, and a long to-do list. After evaluating our list of future renovations, painting our home seemed like the easiest and most cost effective way to quickly improve the look of our new home, inside and out.

Paint does so much more than freshen up an old outdated room. It can create a mood, an ambiance, an emotion. Nothing gives you more bang for your buck than a $40 can of paint and a hard day’s work (OK, I’ll be honest, we hired the pros to handle ours…and you would too if you had our ceilings). The exterior of our home was the original “brown on brown on

Of course the first step is figuring out what you actually want to spend your free time doing and what types of groups you’d want to work with, but with so many out there, that’s easier said than done!

Our team of private investigators hit the streets to try and find the best resources for volunteers in the South Bay. Okay, maybe we lied…we don’t have any private investigators just yet. But, we did do tons of research and digging to make it easier for you guys to find a place to volunteer this summer!

The first resource we found on our search was The Volunteer Center, South

Wearable Technology & Real Estate

Our obsession to leverage new smart technology continues as we explore wearables – specifically smartwatches. When used seamlessly, technology has strong benefits to myself and more importantly to our clients, so it’s important to stay on top of the latest trends.

You may have read our blog a few months back when we were fortunate enough to be one of the first to check out Google Glass. While we didn’t give Glass a rave review, we have to admit the technology is impressive. The lag in the Hangout video feature combined with the actual device sitting on my face made it undesirable for everyday use (however it is a super-fun toy on the volleyball court).

Smartwatches on the other hand have earned their

Kevin Bergen PhotographySupporting local businesses is a passion of ours so we thought we’d kick off a new series of blogs highlighting local businesses we’ve worked with in the past.

The first business we’d like to feature is Kevin Bergen Photography. Kevin is a local photographer that spends his free time capturing the beauty of the South Bay. We recently spoke with him in order to better understand who he is and what drives his love of photography.

Q: How did you originally get started in photography?
A: "I took a basic photography class in high school that rattled my visual creativity. When digital came out, I found my element. One of my most relaxing and enjoyable pastimes is getting up early on a Saturday to shoot without knowing where I'm going. I get in the car and

South Bay is an interesting area comprised of Redondo, Hermosa and Manhattan Beach. This area in Los Angeles County is known for many things. Here are ten things you may not know about this area, however.

  1. George Freeth introduced the modern world to surfing in Redondo Beach in 1907.
  2. South Bay is home to a flock of wild parrots, which is known as one of the largest in the country.
  3. Hermosa Beach is home to the Ironman competition. This is one of the craziest events you will experience throughout the year.
