We just got back to Manhattan Beach from a great week at the Inman Connect Real Estate Technology Conference in San Francisco. We attended many great educational sessions and saw the unveiling of several new cutting edge products and mobile apps. We wanted to let you know about one of our absolute favorites: BrightNest. BrightNest is a free portal designed to make owning a home fun and easy.
Upon signing up you're invited to add your home's details and what they call "house members." There's a "Homefolio" feature where you can upload your important documents and manuals pertaining to your home (refrigerator, washer and dryer, flat screen television, etc.). You can keep a complete home history online and for free. Here you might document what paint color you used in the bathroom, what manufacturer of tile was selected for the kitchen flooring and a contact database for important people like contractors, the handyman and the homeowners insurance emergency line.
And now for the honey-do lists. You can add tasks and assign them to various house members right in your BrightNest account. You can assign something like Clean Out Your Fridge to your husband. Tasks are rated by level of difficulty and how much time it should take to complete. For example, installing a smoke detector takes 5 minutes and has a low-level of difficulty. Also, BrightNest will recommend tasks throughout the year based on your home and location. There's a calendar for viewing upcoming To Do items and safety guides and videos too. This site is a Do-It-Yourselfer's dream.
