A popular restaurant, which left the Hermosa Beach area to pursue the food truck business, is once again going to return. Ragin' Cajun will return to Pier Avenue on April 20th. After Stephen Domingue couldn't renew his lease back in 2011, he was forced to figure out a new way to run his business. He decided to take to the streets and turn it in to Ragin' Cajun on Wheels, which has allowed for an expansion into new markets throughout the area. Many of the Hermosa Beach locals, however, miss this delicious cuisine and look forward to the return.
This food truck serves Bayou bowls including sausage, chicken and corn bisque. You may be familiar with it from the reality show "The Great Food Truck Race", which featured many other food trucks, including Ragin' Cajun. After riding the fame Stephen gained from the appearance on the show, he decided he wanted to get back to the restaurant side of things.
The 425 Pier Avenue location opened up and he jumped on the opportunity to once again grace Hermosa Beach with the delicious food from the Deep South. This location is close to the original location and very similar. It's just a little smaller and will open with a smaller menu, as well. Of course, all the old favorites will be on the menu and they will be able to serve beer and wine.
Domingue hopes to open the actual restaurant in May of 2013, but for the time being, he will provide patrons of Suzy's Bar and Grill with delicious food on April 20th at 5pm. This is considered a "Pop-up" event and will be used to re-introduce the area to some of the old favorites, such as Cajun Catfish, Big ol' Bowls of Gumbolaya and the Blackened Ribeye. The event will also feature Lisa Haley and the Zydecats on stage.
