There are always events going on to help clean up the local environment. In May, there are two specific events you can get involved with. The Redondo Beach Bluffs Habitat Restoration and the Redondo Harbor Clean-up are perfect for all residents to get involved with.
The Habitat Restoration
On Saturday May 25th at 10am, the LA Corps' SEA Lab staff will help to beautify the bluffs. This event is free to participate and you'll get to help make the area better for the wildlife. Volunteers will help remove invasive plants and the event will also include public education about the local environment. You're asked to bring a hat, gloves, sunscreen, sunglasses, a reusable water bottle, lunch and change for the parking meters.
Meet at Esplanade & Vista Del Mar at 10am and the cleanup will go until 2pm. If you cannot make it this month, additional clean up days include June 29th, July 27th and August 31st.
Harbor Clean Up
On May 11th, Beyond the Shore will hold the Redondo Harbor Clean Up & Free SUP Yoga Class. The clean-up will happen from 8:30am to 10:30am and the free SUP Yoga Class will be held from 11am to Noon. You can bring your own SUP or rent one for a $25 donation. You can enjoy more than just helping with the clean-up. There will be food, drinks, raffles, music, vendors and so much more.
Meet at 245 N. Harbor Drive in Redondo Beach at 8:30am. Make sure you bring the supplies you need for both the clean-up and the yoga class. This event is free, but if you need a Stand Up Paddle Board, they are available for rent from Olympus for a $25 donation. Whether you're interested in the class or you want to spend time helping with the clean-up, come out and enjoy the time in the sun.
