Make sure to head down to Hermosa Beach Pier this Saturday April 6th, from 11am until 1pm for a great event hosted by Spyder Surf Fest. The City Of Hermosa Beach will be hosting a Pier ceremony for Mike Doyle welcoming him to the Surfers Walk of Fame.
Doyle has been surfing since the 1950's and always dreamed of becoming a surfing legend. This Saturday, his dream of being recognized along side of some of the greatest surfing riders will come true. He never gave up in his surfing quest. Doyle says that he "had a love affair with the ocean" after standing on the Manhattan Beach pier and becoming instantly mesmerized by the sport.
His favorite memory was when he won the Annual Hermosa Beach Surf Festival contest, winning the tandem event and getting married in the same day.
Being raised in Westchester and Redondo Beach, Doyle was able to surf all over the South Bay, from Malibu to the Palos Verdes Peninsula. He grew up watching some of the big surfing names who became his inspiration. Now living in San Jose del Cabo, Mexico, Doyle is still surfing and running his own surf school.
This entire weekend will be a celebration of the surfing legacy that Doyle and so many others are proud to be apart of. There will be a variety of surf-themed entertainment with giveaways, bands, merchandise, games, a surf film, and a silent auction.
Spyder Surf Fest will be a true gathering of the surf culture present in the South Bay.
